This festival, a gathering of all youth-and-circus related practictioners and organizations (from recreational to pre-professional to professional, coaches and 'youth' (up to age 21), only happens every 2 years... We didn't get to the last festival, in 2006. CFU! was just getting up steam as a group, and the festival was in Ohio, which seemed really far away for some reason. This year it's in Pennsylvania, from August 19-23, 2009 and I for one REALLY want to go. I'm looking for some other circus groupies who are into networking, hobnobbing, and hanging out, and playing around with other circus kids (some younger, some older). It will be INCREDIBLE. We can learn a lot from people there, get great advice, and meet new collaborators... and have oodles of fun. Anyone interested? **UPDATE** $250 tickets available for college work-study positions! Volunteer at the festival and get the whole four-day package for half the price. Woot! (It's pretty pricey - $475 for four days (meals, lodging, and workshops included), plus a $25 membership, so $500 in all! You can pay less to go just one day, and a LOT less if you don't want to go to any of the workshops (german wheel, flying trapeze, clowning, etc). I might end up going for just 2 days...) www.americanyouthcircus.org/festival/2009/index.htmlalso, on Facebook: www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=102012966954

Up to 21... Does that mean I can't go since I'll be 22 then?

COME! i've been talking to them & college students are VERY WELCOME. we're just a weird category, semi-youth, semi-adult. in fact, i've been in lots of conversations about that lately and considering doing a div iii project around creating a college-circus network similar to/allied with AYCO
