So yesterday Juliana and I got an email from Josiah regarding our circus orientation group. Apparently a young lady in a wheel chair has signed up for our group. This will be fun and exciting! But also challenging. Josiah didn't say the extent of her handicap, but I doubt it's really important. So if you lot have any brilliant wheelchair circus ideas, let me know kay?

! Oh how fun! Partner acro, definitely! (Perfect base), hand balancing (she'll probably have some great upper body strength already), and of course, manipulation. Let us know how it goes!

I seem to recall Tara telling a story about her teaching a man in a wheelchair some acro at wildfire. Also, be prepared for a hijacking of orientation by two, um, screwy looking ninjas...

consider it done! i leave for london september 3rd, so i'm planning to come up to Amherst for orientation weekend, which is aug 30-31, right?
molly, can i stay with you guys?
and yeah, i totally did acro with & taught acro to a guy in a wheelchair (he had a prosthetic leg below the knee) at Wildfire... it's really awesome, 'cause you can do positions, and then they can spin and move the wheelchair - you can also use the wheelchair itself to hold weight or brace off of. just be extra-careful, 'cause metal & plastic aren't as forgiving as muscles to bump into or land on! and he spun fire poi, too, so there's another possibility!
