First of all, who's going to be here and circusing? I'd like to make sure that the great momentum we built up last semester doesn't dissipate entirely during the winter months, so I think that there should be some variety of cohesive activity for Jan-term to keep us going. Personally, I don't believe I'll be able to make it to any Sunday practices because I'm taking EMT training, but I'll be there every Friday, you can count on it.
Some suggestions: We could try to construct a show to be performed at the start of spring semester. Copious internet advertising should ensure that those away for the winter will still know if it come February. Development could take place mostly on the forum during break so that once we get back to school we can get right to it. We could find a circus skill that most of us have little or no background in and we could all learn it together. This might involve finding a coach of some sort to come in to teach us, or else we'll all be struggling with internet tutorials together. We could continue to concept build for Creatures, and even maybe start making costumes. We should probably do this at least a little bit anyway. We could make it a sort of general "Teach somebody something new" month where everybody learns something they didn't know before from another member of the troupe. But for me the only option would really be acrobatics, and that's against my policy of no acrobatics unless you really need a base.
So! Who's here and what do you want to do?

I'll be here and this is what I'm planning on doing: Having daily conditioning. (Okay...6 days a week.) I'm talking big time conditioning that will get progressively more challenging because, well...for those who have experienced me, I can be quite a bitch when pressing people to improve. And I think everyone should come. I'll probably be mixing it up with stuff in the south lounge and stuff (probably mostly running) at the gym depending on what the schedule looks like for the slounge. Hampshire gymnastics will be happening in Jan going through the spring semester; I'm gonna be doing that too. (With Lindsay and Jacob and..?) As far as trying to organize a show to put on in the beginning of spring, I'm a bit wary. As you'll see, Jan term, campus is dead. Frequently people are taking intensive classes and so don't have the time to devote to making a show. If you wanted to pull another "The Experiment" sorta thing, I guess that could work, but I think we should really focus on starting to develop Creatures instead. Keeping in mind that much of circus won't be around and it's not quite fair to make the whole show without people being able to assert their input.

Victory-ia. i am so down for daily conditioning. i have class m-f from 9-11:30am. what times are you gonna be doing it? lets push each other to the extreme! also, i am taking two classes at necca this semester, beg. silks and adv. trap. silks are tues from 6-730 and trap is 730 to 9. if the beg trap people dont mind waiting around for an hour and a half afterwards we really should carpool. you are allowed to play in the backroom so it could be more circus time. i also brought my car up so i could drive there instead of bumming rides from nutty hippies. pwease carpool with me, i'll make it worth your while :-) k, cyas sunday!!!

Sarah, I should be taking silks, too. We can trade off in the car pool.

Conditioning is today (probably?) at 4.30. It might depend on how circus goes. (Ie, if I completely wear myself out on trapeze and powerizers, I'll probably just meet up with everyone to figure out what times work.) The south lounge is almost always hideously packed except for after 9. I would kinda prefer to have a late conditioning in the slounge 'cuz we can't have music on the playing floor, I believe. And music is kinda hugely crucial to how I exercise.

Right, sorry. Uhm...well, for push ups, do two (working up to 10) on your fingertips, knuckles, extra wide, diamonds, and regular. And calf raises. (Both feet, each foot individually, both feet, and then stay up for as long as you can.) And frog jumps. (Touch ground, jump, touch ground, jump).

News update! Tuesday nights (9 pm) will be PARKOUR nights. A bunch of us (I found heaps of interest in my anatomy class) will be screwing around in the south lounge practicing vaulting and precision and rolls and the like. It's conditioning of the cardio, core, arms and back. You will like it. When it gets warm, we will be moving our new badassary outside and having midnight ninja attacks on the school. This is the beginning of the unofficial parkour team I want. And it must remain unofficial because the school wouldn't condone the things we want to do. Muahahahaha. Tonight we conditioned from 10-12 (though I was there at 9 playing on my <3 powerizers <3) and it looks like we're going to be doing that a lot. Yayyyyyyy! I love my life. Oh, and playtime reminder: Friday 5-7 and Sunday 2-4.

Only this Friday, the 18th, you should all leave early to go to the Theatre of the Oppressed performance, starting at 6:30pm in the Main Dance Studio. Yup.
