Soooo I've been saying things here and there to some of y'all about coming to my preschool to do a little circus workshop with the kids, but this is the official announcement. So here's the whole spiel.
I work/intern at Hummingbird Preschool in Montague (about a 20 minute drive from Amherst.). It's this really cool, small operation that does a lot of outdoor, experiential, and movement based activities and learning. Ever since I mentioned CFU to my boss, Gabe, she has been super enthusiastic about having a few circus folk come in to o a workshop of sorts with them. The idea is that we would come in, do a short little "show", after which the kids could ask questions, and we would teach them some simple acro-based tricks, and then help them put on a little show of their own. I was hoping we could bring some face paint and some costumey things as well.
So, it sounds like a lot more than it is. It would probably be an hour or two in the middle of the day (either a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday). Gabe was hoping for an all-girl group, as all of the kids are girls and would be less intimidated that way. I was really hoping to do this within the next month if at all possible. It doesn't take a lot of preparation, so anyone who is interested PLEASE let me know.
Love and little childrens, Emmmma

also..a couple more details. There are four kids in the preschool and they are super awesome and brave and ready for anything. I've been acquainting them with circus-- I brought in some toys and we've started reading children's books relating to the circus. And if you're at all interested, this is the school website: hummingbirdpreschool.com/i know this is probably way more than anyone needs to know, but I am just super excited about this. i get to combine my two loves: childrens and circus. YAYUH.

the school doesn't run on Fridays, unfortunately. But I'll see if we can work something out. Three years olds and five year olds is the age group, but don't let the age fool you; they're not toddlers, so we can do more with them than you might think.

If it turns out that my services are required, I am available on Thursday afternoons, the others only after 4 o'clock or so. But I understand the desire for an all female cast.
