July 14th, 2007 in Sturbridge, MA they're looking for entertainment for deaf kids who are attending the Northeast Cochlear Impant Convention. We'd need to come up with a 30-40 minute performance/workshop to do 3 times for about 50 kids each (ages 5 1/2-10) that doesn't rely on auditory cues.
If you're planning to be around, please email me ASAP, 'cause I'd really love to organize a little group to do it! I'll be between New York and Boston then, so it's perfect.
See the email we got below for more info:

Dear Hampshire College Circus Folk,
My wife and I attended your performance at the Northampton Center for
the Arts last Saturday and we were enthralled!
I'm writing because I am the Chairperson of the 6th Northeast
Cochlear Implant Convention, which will be held July 13-15, 2007 at
the Sturbridge Host Hotel and Convention Center in Sturbridge, MA.
These conventions are held biennially and are attended by over 650
adults and over 200 children. The convention is for deaf children
who hear with cochlear implants and their families, and also for deaf
adults with cochlear implants and their spouses.
We are looking for performers for Saturday evening, July 14, 7-9 PM
who can entertain the children aged 5 1/2 - 10 years while their
parents attend a banquet. It would be a plus if the entertainers
can involve the children. About 2/3 of the children are deaf with
cochlear implants, and the other third are their hearing siblings.
Thus, we are looking for performances that do not rely on auditory
clues.
The children will be in the hotel's Hawthorne Exhibit Hall, which is
108' x 118' x 34' high. We divide the hall into three station areas,
and three groups of about 50 children each rotate through the
stations, spending about 30 - 40 minutes at each station. One of
the stations will have Mike Catalano of Little Feats Movement
Education and Fitness Programs, Inc. Mike will do movement games
with the children.
Would your group be interested in performing at one or two of the
stations? If so, I would like to meet with you to discuss what types
of performance would be most ideal. We can pay a fee. The
convention is sponsored by the Minuteman Implant Club, Inc., which is
a tax-exempt charitable organization, of which I am President.
I live in Amherst, at 209 Rolling Ridge Road. Phone 413.549.4108. I
would be happy to visit you at Hampshire College, or you can visit me
at my house. We need to finalize our Children's Program within two
weeks, so a quick response with a time and date at which we can meet
would be very much appreciated!
Warm wishes,
Larry Orloff
