Hey all,
So, I'm playing with doing a bit of a precurser to 1/2 of my Div III next semester, but if so I would need some circus friends. Here's a little div III backround if you want the context. If not just skip to the paragraph below.
Basically my Div III will be a design for, and the beginning of implementation of, a permaculture garden/performance/meeting place. I'm happy to explain permaculture (most dont know it), so ask me if you want because I can't explain it all here. The second part will be a performance in the garden. The garden will be a collaborative project which a bunch of people will be involved with. For the moment it's Tobin Porter-Brown and me. The idea is that all of the performances that happen there will be there because the performers/makers want their work to relate to the garden and to the earth. it's not going to be a regular outdoor theater with a stage...
Anyway, my Div II is about ritual, theater, storytelling, permaculture, circus and the journey of our relationship with the earth (as a species). My backround is in theater. SO, next semester I will most likely 'direct' (more like facilitate) a performance related to our relationship with the earth. I'm open to this taking any number of directions because of what people might want to bring to it. The main thing that you should know, is that we will start with the content we feel is important, and with developing a story (mostly through improv exercises I and maybe others will lead), and THEN we will integrate circus skills to help the story shine through. Of course, we will do this with the awareness of what OUR best skills are as performers, and work them in if we possibly can so we can make as much magic as possible. So fire I know I we will need fire and contact juggling.
If this sounds like it might turn you on, let me know, and keep in mind that there is TONS of room for your input. For now I just want to know what kind of interest is out there.
