*EDIT* It's definitely not happening for New Year's 2007. But they start accepting applications for New Year's 2008 in March, so we should totally plan for that! www.firstnight.org/*** perhaps this could be the aim of some people for the rest of the semester? would have to be all together before school ended so it would be ready when the troupe arrived to perform on the night... ----- Hi circus folk! Amazing show on Halloween, congrats everyone. So, I was wondering if you all would be interested in performing this New Years Eve. My aunt Gina Mullen is the Production Director for First Night Boston, which is a non-profit organization that produces First Night every year. First Night is a celebration of the arts, involving visual art, theater and music performances, dancing, art workshops, and fireworks. You can read more about the organization and the event at www.firstnight.org/In any case, I thought you all would be wonderful as performers, and if you were interested I'd put you in touch with my aunt. With both government and foundation funding decreasing every year, it's really important for this year to be amazing so we can keep this program running. If you have any questions, let me know, I've been working for the event every year for 3 or 4 years now, so I hopefully have the answers. -Meg

I was! planning to be in boston for new years! And am definately interested. Circus of Horrors (maybe shorted and simplified a little bit) I think could do nicely! (and plus, Juliana, amoung otheres, reaaallllyy wants to that show again, hee)
Or maybe I can do fire? But we'd need to find out a bunch of logistics before that could be possible suck as will firstnight allow it, with the venue allow it, would we need performers insurance (this would be for the whole show, actually, not just fire...)
But yea, I definately want in on this!

SUCH A GOOD IDEA! I'd be totally up for it. I'll also take on any role needed, whether it's performer, logistics helper, setter-upper, whatever.

awesome! we should def try to transfer a couple of circus of horrors acts, dress them up for new years, add a few new shiny things depending on who gets involved.
so far: dani, tara, sar t, juliana, victoria. who else is up for it?

That could VERY likely work for me. I am definitely interested but have to think about it a little. I don't think I'd want to do the contact bit alone, but I could do fire and organizational stuff. ~Mai

can we schedule some meeting to talk about this? If I'm going to do it I need to make travel plans fairly quickly and I don't really want to end up in boston if we aren't doing this. (there's something else I was planning on doing in sf)
can we maybe come to the friday meeting time a half hour early?

I have class at UMASS before circus, and generally get back to campus right at 4pm... If you guys have a meeting and then post decisions and main discussion points on here, that would be okay, though.
