My last post inspired me to do some research about the Santa Monica Pier's set of traveling rings and I found some amazing things. First of all:(http://www.swingaring.com/) Website for the rings. Too bad we don't have $30,000 to spare eh? A wee bit out of FiCom's price range. But more to the point, here is a slightly obnixious but still really engrossing video of how people can use the rings. A lot of the people featured in it are the people that've been helping me learn new circus tricks on Sundays, though I think it's kind of old because some of those people don't have hair anymore! But yeah, this is what I tried for the first time yesterday and now my arms are SO SORE. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8954006501773253017

So awesome! At my gym, i saw some kids doing duets and triplets on the rings. They are typically used for an event in men's gymnastics. But I started playing with them and it can be used like static aerials. I'm sure with the proper riging, such things could be attached to where the rock climbing wall is in the RCC.

probably arent that hard to make for an experienced metalworker either....the problem would absolutely be the rigging. looks like a blast.

Speaking of making things and rigging things, there's a lot of aerial equipment that wouldn't be too hard to make and set up at all. I can start talking to Hexter about making it work. I see circus potentially becoming a big thing in Hampshire's future... It could be an interesting thing to push.

IIIII WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A SOLO TRAPEZE RIG!!!!
but for now i'm fine hanging off of balconies. Thats fun too.
But a general solo aerial rig could be used for a lot of things.

the easiest way to make a static arial rig is a tripod, it could be used for trap, silks, web, and ring. plus it could be portable, but wont support swinging stuff, i dont really no the first thing about rigging that kind of stuff
