I wanted to post the schools I am looking at going to after I finish college. It'll take alot of work and more home videos as audition tapes to get in...but I don't think I am the only one who can do this. Since i'll finish college year 09' (i'm one year behind), its totally possible and cheap to get into a European 2-3 year program. Its alot more efficent and WAY cheaper to train outside the states, since it counts as higher education and is funded by the gov, as oppossed to the business that is US circus. Heres a list of circus schools that teach it all (russian bar, trampoline, bungees, german wheel, voice, music, even french...everything!!!)
1. NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts) in Australia. Hard to get into, but a great place. Moderate $$
2. Ecole nationale de arts du Cirque in Belguim. www.esac.be. A 3 year program that costs 200 dollars a year + 2,000 fee for foreigners, this place is in the center of the city and i am seriously considering going here once i am done college!!!
3. Ecole nationale de cirque (Montreal National Circus School). Duh its a major stretch. But they have a variety of programs. check it at www.ecolenationaledecirque.ca
4. Circusschool de Hoogte in the Netherlands. word. check it at www.circusschool.dds.nl
5. CPIT in New Zealand. Part of their university. 2 year program alot like Circomedia but you get training in everything. www.cpit.ac.nz/subjects/circusarts/
6. Circus Cikor in Sweden. This girl Sarinka from my course almost went there. Its a top school and pretty cheap but have merged with the dance university so is a little less circus intense than it used to be. www.cirkor.se/ www.danshogskolan.se/dh/english.html
Seriously,if anyone else would consider doing this after Hampshire then say "I" now!!!
