Hey, guys! My name is James. I was born on the Second day of September in 1989 I currently attend Rockville High School, and I have been admitted to Hampshire early decision for Fall of 2007. I'm leaning towards film photography or digital art at the moment, but this is likely to change. I've lived my whole life in Rockville, Maryland. I started off spinning poi three years ago, and consider myself a reasonably advanced poiist. I also juggle, and am currently working on learning five balls, I devilstick, I can ride a unicycle compitently but can do few 'tricks,' I have a smattering of CJ and diabolo, and can walk on pole stilts. And do bullwhip cracks. And use a lasso. Oh! and staff, I forgot that one. I basically just want to get better at all my current media. And learn to walk a tight rope, that'd be cool. Oh, and my fire eating friend never got around to teaching me, so if she doesn't by the time I get there I'd like to learn that, too. My other hobbies are playing the didgeridoo and the bodhran, sometimes simultaniously, raising tarantulas, reading, spending too much time on the computer, cooking, and photography. My favourite cartoon character is Rocket J. Squirrel. My favourite popsicle flavour is green. I would like the super power of doppelganger. Like Mystique but not a girl. I would like to be a nature photographer for National Geographic and travel the world with my biologist sister and study cool aminals and things.
I'm super excited about going to Hampshire and joining Circus Folk Unite! and I hope to see you all and give you big hugs.

welcome james; I think you're going to fit in well with us. And good timing; we just bought a slackline, so you're be able to learn that; and I'd be happy to teach you how to eat fire. Out of curiosity, are you a member of any of the online poi websites, like tribe, hop or dmp?

Why, yes I am! I used to be a really big poster on HoP, under the screenname sparkey, but I haven't been there much in a while, and recently I've been having trouble logging in. I should really try to work on that. Thanks for the warm welcome!

All right, most of ya'll have known me for a while now, too, I suppose, but I guess I could talk about myself a bit. I love talking about myself.
My name is Morgana Rhalina Smith, and I absolutely hate the Smith. I was born 4 April, 1990...which I believe makes me the youngest current member of CFU! I go to Hampshire, of course. From what I can tell right now, I'm studying the link between commedia dell'arte, vaudeville/burlesque, and silent film (comedy), as well as physical comedy in general...and mask-making. Maybe some costume design? I think. Yes. Circus skills, circus skills? Well, I came into CFU! with nothing but a clown costume and a keen interest. I can stilt-walk and promised James that I would learn how to juggle (which I've been trying to master since September) and unicycle over the summer. He also started teaching me how to eat fire. =] Oh, and I know a very little bit of acro. I'd be willing to learn just about anything anyone's willing to teach me. I would also like to learn tightrope, I think, and possibly play around with clowning and mime summore. Other hobbies include reading to a disgusting degree, drawing, writing, developing new ways of procrastinating, collecting a lot of (kinda) useless stuff, putting together elaborate outfits, planning and making gifts for people, and getting excited about Nick Cave, antiques, commedia dell'arte (mostly Pierrot), Venice, and pretty things/people. A favorite cartoon character is a really hard question for me, because I feel like I watch(ed) far too many cartoons. Favorite popsicle flavor is grape (or purple, for those who are doing this color-wise). My favorite ice cream flavor, on the other hand, is mint chocolate chip. =] I would really like to have the power of umbrakenesis, which is the ability to manipulate shadows. I think that just kind of appeals to my aesthetic, maybe. Hahaa. As far as growing up, I don't particularly plan on it. Haha, seriously though...I'd like to be happy when I grow up. And I think that means doing silly circus things, maybe, and also mask-making. Maybe some writing. I'm so unclear right now, honestly. But that's okay! I'm excited.
Other things that weren't asked or previously covered, which maybe I should mention... I really like all of the following: Books, black-ink pens, masks, dried flowers, ribbons, lipstick (generally of the eye-bleeding red variety), mimes, science-fiction and fantasy, horoscopes (though I'm not sure I entirely believe them), Judeo-Christian mythology (especially angels and demons), boots, Victoriana, antique typewriters, sweaters and turtlenecks, bandannas and scarves, hugs and kisses, old houses (with radiators! I love radiators!), cuddling, ear cuffs, glass stuff (especially Murano glass), sleeping with another person (I guess that goes along with cuddling), Tim Burton, Edward Gorey, wolves, cats, camels, bats, snakes, spiders, sheep, octopi and squids, ladybugs, black-and-white photography, doodling, people-watching, art nouveau, nice things made of real leather, antiques, gentlemen, lace and lacy undergarments, hats, silliness, Good Omens, being stylish, (somewhat)organized chaos, shortbread cookies, tea in copious amounts, M*A*S*H (especially Alan Alda), the Eighties (which I believe is the decade most of ya'll were born in), outlaws, New York City, strawberry Chapstick, strawberries in general, black-white-and-red anything, elaborate costumes, silent film actresses, the Twilight Zone, circus (obviously), fancy paper, hand-written letters, foreign coins, Art Deco anything, wearing black/earth tones/obnoxiously bright colors, aminal print blankets (but NOT aminal print clothing), being creative, English language and proper grammar, Abraham Lincoln (I have a thing for tall, skinny men who wear funny hats. I blame my father, since he falls under that category.), feminism (to a degree), Lilith, Weird Tales magazine, gypsies, dresses, knee socks, polka-dots, stripes, plaid, argyle, houndstooth, bras and underpants, human fallibility, Jesus, love, short hair on girls, mugs, looking at the bottom of dinnerware to see what company made it, talented men (who just happen to be mostly older), Lucifer, the Great Depression and World War II, people with a good sense of humor, musicals, thrift and vintage clothing, singing loudly and obnoxiously (frequently in the shower), receiving compliments on my skills, Japan, being Italian, being ridiculously pale, eyes, Halloween, Arthurian legend (mostly as it applies to Morgan le Faye), powerful female figures, Camel cigarette paraphernalia, keys (and locks), cameos, dressing up, Medieval/Renaissance faires (though I haven't been to one in ages), candles and incense (though I haven't burned either in ages), designing stuff, writing in my journal, jackets, old-fashioned slow dancing (which I haven't done since my grandfather died), Dr. Seuss, the Muppets, the Twenties, Venice, Hampshire College and Northampton, ancient Egypt, rings...
...well, Lord only knows there's probably tons more I could add, but I can't really think of any more at the moment, and I think people are probably done reading this sort of thing, anyway.
In other news, I'm ridiculously excited to be a signer. =]

-Jezevec. Most of you know me as Panda and will be hard pressed to change that, but do try, it will make me happy. -01/31/87 -Hampshire Alum, which means that I will hopefully finally have time to join the circus... -Animation is my concentration -I can do many things related to circus activities, but most of them have yet to be honed. -I have always wanted to be proficient in acrobatics -Costume design is something i do in my new-found spare time -I like lots of cartoons -But i dont really eat popsicles -a question of superpowers with me is a particularly loaded one, that i refuse to answer in text format without writing an entire essay. Super speed.

Artist-formerly-known-as-Panda-now-known-as-Jezevec, Costume design, yes please! We'd love as much costume help as possible. Our spring show will more than likely be huge, and Alice has already voiced her interest in doing costumes, and I bet she'd love someone else to help her. Also, our Halloween show has a lot of fun potential, so feel free to start throwing out ideas! We'd be happy to teach you acro! Actually, Hampshire Gymnastics is right across from the Hess station and we've done adult gymnastics classes there. Hopefully we'll get to start them again next semester, and you should join us! At last check, it's $118 for n00bs for either 8 or 10 weeks, I can't remember. Either way, it's a steal. And ever after, it's only $100!
